Hakwood is proud sponsor of 100% Design’s entrance feature ‘Design Path’

31 August 2016

The installation titled ‘Design Path’ is a 15m long trail of European oak Duoplank in a colourful herringbone pattern. Inspired by this year’s 100% Design theme ‘immerse’, the fluid installation, designed by Sally Hogarth, meanders across the exhibition floor exploring vibrations and water patterns. Each plank of wood functions as a section of river generating ripples in the water.

The Media10 in-house designer, Sally Hogarth, states:

“Taking the variety of colours and textures available in the Hakwood range as a starting point, ‘Design Path’ combines bespoke colours to reinvent the herringbone pattern with movements found in nature. 100% Design visitors will walk over and along the ‘Design Path’ as they enter the exhibition, playing on this year’s theme of ‘immerse’ and the creative process designers take. The colour pallet used pays homage to the variety of shades found within water in motion - the garnet red pieces eluding to unexpected shades created by reflections of surroundings. The walkway consists of 943 pieces of Hakwood European oak intricately woven into the iconic herringbone style which comes to form wavelets across the floor. The variations of natural wood colours used create a sense of depth and shade as visitors walk along their way into the show.”

Great Vertical Statements
During 100% Design, we will also be launching Hakwood Wall Tiles, a new and innovative product for vertical installations. The wood tiles allow the designer full flexibility and control to make a vertical statement and design their own pattern landscape as well as personalize each scheme by rotating tiles to make new patterns. Each tile is a pre-fabricated Duoplank wood tile available in a variety of designs and dimensions that uses a hanging system for easy installation. Bespoke designs are always welcome, enabling architects and designers to create custom feature walls.

The possibilities are endless.
