Designer showroom
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Designer Timo van Riggelen carefully selected the brands and products he presents in his new Amsterdam office-showroom. He wanted them to be luxurious, versatile and innovative. Prominently displayed on the wall at the entrance: Hakwood wall tiles.
Bond of trust
“Strange as it sounds, I think we distinguish ourselves as a firm by not having a signature style”, says Van Riggelen. “Instead, our clients value the fact that we’re able to completely absorb their style – fast. Then we create a design and select the materials to match, keeping a careful eye on the overall aesthetics. I firmly believe that a really good design is based on a bond of trust between a designer and their client.”
“We don’t do run-of-the-mill products.”
New and fresh
This approach led Van Riggelen to take on a variety of projects. “Everything we do is new and fresh, which keeps us and our clients on our toes. Working within so many different styles we are very aware of the differentiating power of colour, texture and patterns. That’s why we want our clients to not only see the materials, but also experience them. We stage events with our suppliers for example. We took one client with us to Italy, so they could hand-pick their marble.”
“The 3D relief gives Hakwood’s wall tiles an interesting tactile component.”
Instant appeal
Hakwood’s wall tiles fit the picture, says Van Riggelen. “The incredible number of choices in colours, patterns and shapes had an instant appeal. The product also allows for very interesting combinations, such as clean stone floors and rough wood walls. I noticed that most clients are drawn to the tiles when they come in, caressing the material. It’s wonderful to see a material eliciting a reaction like that.”
