Bridge House, Whistler, Canada

Suspended between mountain and canopy, Bridge House by Openspace Architecture called for a floor that could complement Corten steel, rough stone and floor-to-ceiling glass without competing with the surrounding landscape. Hakwood flooring runs through the open living spaces, bringing warmth and visual continuity to the home while creating a calm foundation for its expressive architecture.

At tree-top level, the natural tone and grain of the wood connect the interior to the forest beyond. Underfoot, the floor brings warmth and a sense of permanence to the home’s most distinctive architectural elements, from the skylit staircase and double-height living room to the bridge hovering above it.
