Decorator Showcase
San Francisco, United States
For the third year in a row Hakwood is a proud sponsor of the San Francisco Decorator Showcase. For the 2020 edition Hakwood flooring forms the base for the design of the house where 27 spaces have been transformed by 21 talented designers. From Hakwood’s Authentic collection, the European Oak wood flooring in Valor finish can be seen throughout the main level of the house in herringbone and in wide-width, long-length planks on the upper and lower levels.
Leap Interior Design was inspired by a study called “Nature Always Wins,” which highlights the dichotomy between the strength and the fragility of our natural world. Every piece in this space was designed or made in California, in order to minimize the environmental footprint. The console table was hand-carved by Aderyn Studio, founded by Chelsea Brown of Leap Interior Design and her husband, Phil Vaughn.
The spiral staircase and landing by DZINE is designed as a gallery and lined with botanical photographs by Elina Frumerman against a wall painted a custom inky black (which echoes Frumerman’s works).
In this living room by Applegate Tran Interiors, organic forms found in nature are juxtaposed and balanced with geometric shapes. The furniture arrangement, on an irregular axis, creates a cosmopolitan flair with unexpected viewpoints.
Every inch of this treehouse-themed bedroom by Benni Amadi Interiors bursts with adventure, from the bunk beds against a forest mural to the suspended rope swing (on the opposite side of the room). The integrated cabinets and drawers provide maximum storage and functionality alongside the fun.
The goal for this kitchen by Regan Baker Design was to keep the Mediterranean style and charm of the home intact while blending in an earthy, unsaturated color palette throughout. To complement the interiors—and to address the fact that Black artists and designers have been underrepresented in the past—Baker chose to display artworks from Black female artists (Christa David, Marie Alexander, Lauren Pearce, and Tawny Chatmon) that resonated with her and her team.
